What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Where I live in northeastern Washington State, there is a lot of wilderness – but there is also a lot of ranching and farming. Through an odd sequence of events, I learned that many children do not understand that their much of their food is grown by hard-working farmers. Many of the teachers I spoke with told me that they try to get kids to farms on field trips early on, so a book about them would be wonderful. I figured this was a job for Mr. Pish!
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Mr. Pish is a real dog – the traveling Jack Russell terrier – who has been to 41 states and 7 provinces of Canada. He loves to get outside and explore – making him the perfect “spokesdog” for outdoor learning and literacy. He makes learning fun and entertaining for kids and adults of all ages.
What? My Dad says our food comes from farms! Did someone say FOOD? Okay, now they have my attention.
You know I love my food….
But I thought it came from a store!
Hmmm… this farm thing may be pretty important after all. I think I should investigate!
