What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I love reading romance books and I wanted to write the type of book that I myself would like to read.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The characters are composites of people I have met in the past that have inspired me.
Walking inside the house, Tricia started to speak and stopped mid-sentence. Standing before her was the towering figure of Rod. As Tenaya’s older brother, Rod had grudgingly let them tag along to the movies and shopping mall. Tricia had had a crush on him as a girl, but was never more to him than his little sister’s friend. When she left to go to nursing school, Rod was already studying in college. Apparently, he had grown up well. His buttoned up shirt fit tightly across his bulging chest muscles and he was at least six inches taller than in high school.
Tenaya glanced over at Tricia. “Oh, I forgot to ask. Is it all right if Rod has dinner with us? I figured you may want to spend some time catching up with him as well.”
Tricia nodded, unable to speak. Rod smiled. “How are you doing, Tricia? You aren’t a little girl in pigtails anymore, I see.”
Regaining her ability to speak, Tricia laughed. “And you have grown up a bit, too. How are you doing?”
Rod shrugged. “Fairly good. After college, I decided to get my real estate license. I’ve been working on some projects to help gentrify the neighborhood.”
Her eyes brightened. “I was wondering what was going on. A lot of the stores seem to be coming back.”
He nodded. “It takes time, but slowly things will change. Just gotta keep hoping and working toward the goal.”
Smiling, Tenaya put her arm around Tricia and brought her toward the kitchen. Calling over the shoulder for Rod to check the mail, she whispered in Tricia’s ear. “What was that with you guys? Do you like him?”
Tricia blushed. Had she been that obvious in checking him out? She shook her head.
Giggling, Tenaya wagged her finger at Tricia. “I know when you are crushing on someone. Here, I’ll talk to him after you leave and see about getting you a date.”
