What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I like to read about romance and wanted to write something that I would enjoy reading.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The characters are made up of different individuals that I find interesting.
Entering the restroom, Tricia walked over to the mirror. With the rodeo still going on, there were very few women in the bathroom. She looked in the mirror. Staring back at her was a gorgeous, lively black woman with bright eyes. Surprised, she looked closer at her reflection. This was the best she had looked in weeks. Something was different in the reflection that gazed back at her. There was more life and happiness in her expression. Pausing, she pulled a lipstick out of her purse. She was going to be in so much trouble if she stayed with him for long tonight.
Finally, she left the restroom. Turning the corner, she ran headfirst into Rod. Stunned, she stepped back. “Oh, hi,” her voice was unenthusiastic and she immediately cursed herself silently.
Rod seemed taken back. He did not understand why she was not happy to see him. Shrugging it off mentally, he leaned forward and kissed her. Her lips were cool and unresponsive against his. “What’s wrong? And what are you doing here, Tricia?”
Awkwardly, Tricia shrugged. “I’m fine. I just came here with an old friend. What brings you here tonight?”
Rod motioned toward the refreshments counter. “Just getting some drinks for an out-of-town developer and me.” He waited awkwardly for a moment and started to leave. Before he could, John walked up and handed Tricia a Sprite.
“Sorry about the Sprite, I ordered coke. For some reason, that is not what they heard.” Stretching out his hand to Rod, he smiled affably. “Hi, I’m John. How are you doing?”
Rod coughed. He did not like the way this situation looked. Raising an eyebrow, he shook John’s hand. “I’m Rod, Tricia’s boyfriend. What brings you to town?”
John smiled. “Business, like always.” Now he knew who the competition was.
