Book One in a YA urban fantasy series.
Fifteen year old Devon Richards realizes his entire life so far has been a lie when his strange powers suddenly surface.
As Devon begins his quest to find the truth, he dreams of Alexis – a girl his own age who has powerful abilities of her own.
Devon knows Alexis is in trouble; the same shadowy people who are pursuing him are after her. He knows he needs to help her, and he knows that she’s the first clue on his journey to discover the amazing answers to who and what he really is.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I wrote this book with my best friend, Tony Circelli, and it was born out of an idea about a group of kids who were born with special powers. I usually write horror and thrillers, but this book was very special to me and I loved writing it. We’re outlining the second book now.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
We came up with Devon and we wanted him to be a kid who was good at everything: naturally smart and a gifted athlete, yet he had no friends because his aunt and uncle move from place to place every few months. Devon just wants to be normal, he just wants to fit in, but it always seems to backfire on him. But he doesn’t know how special he is until his strange powers start to surface.
I’ve been writing since second grade when my teacher called my parents in for a conference because the ghost story I’d written had her a little concerned. By the time I was fourteen years old I was reading every Stephen King book I could find at the public library. I was hooked – I knew I had to be a writer.
Since then I’ve had several stories published and four screenplays optioned by producers in Hollywood. I’ve written four novels and a collection of short stories (Ancient Enemy, Descendants of Magic, The Summoning, Night Terrors, Ghost Town: a novella, and A Dark Collection: 12 Scary Stories) all of which are available on Amazon/Kindle. I’m a member of the Horror Writers Association.
I grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida, and then after many travels and adventures, I settled down in Tampa, Florida with my wonderful wife and son, and a stray cat we adopted. I’m busy working on my next novels.
